Captain Andrew Swedenborg | USMC
Captain Swedenborg was born in Minneapolis, MN. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and graduated Vice President of the police academy he was attending at that time. Captain Swedenborg then worked as a law enforcement officer for the City of Detroit. After that he pursued a career as a private security contractor aiding in logistics in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Arabic he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps through the Officer Candidate Course (OCS) in 2009.
Captain Swedenborg first deployed to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in support of US Baltic Sea Operations 2010. He was tasked as a foreign military advisor, Swedish linguist and rifle platoon commander. In 2010 Captain Swedenborg assumed command of Alpha 1/23 Scout Sniper platoon in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His unit Alpha 1/23 was tasked as Quick Reaction Force conducting Intelligence/Surveillance/Reconnaissance and Security Forces missions throughout Helmand Province in support of 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, SOTF-West, and 3rd ANGLICO.
Captain Swedenborg ran several training missions as an instructor for Sayeret Training Group at their private facility in Nevada. During this time his team performed multiple extradition for the State of Nevada, California and the US federal Justice Department. Sayeret Training Group performs pre deployment training packages for US Naval Special Warefare units, Private military contractors as well as other US Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
Captain Swedenborg took command as Executive Officer for the Georgia Training Team, Republic of Georgia Rotation 08, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Captain Swedenborg was then assigned to US Marine Forces Central Command as a foreign military advisor liaison for MARCENT Forward, Bahrain. He led multiple assignments with the US Military Attaché Program, US Embassy, Amman, Jordan. Several assignments were in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as well as other combat operations throughout Middle East and North Africa.
He is currently serving on his sixth overseas deployment in western Afghanistan as an embedded foreign advisor. Captain Swedenborg has 6 years of advanced formal military instruction to include a few; Center For Advanced Operational Cultural Learning- Advanced Arabic Language Course, USMC Counter Surveillance Course, USMC High Risk Concealed Carry/Employment Course (HRCC), and ACADEMI Advanced Tactical Driving Course.
Captain Swedenborg’s personal decorations include the NAVY AND MARINE CORPS ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL, The SELECTED ARMED FORCES RESERVE MEDAL, The MARINE CORPS RESERVE MOBILIZATION MEDAL, and The COMBAT ACTION RIBBON.
