*Interfaith Community Services (Veteran Employment Programs)*

Interfaith Community Services empowers people in need to stabilize and improve their lives through comprehensive programs, in partnership with diverse faith communities and people of compassion. Interfaith Community Services was founded in 1979 by a handful of diverse faith communities to address the needs of low-income, homeless, and under-served people in North San Diego County. Separately, these congregations were providing relief to people in need, but by creating Interfaith they were able to collaborate to make a bigger impact on the needs of the people in our community.

As participation grew, Interfaith evolved into a broad continuum of programs and services that provide the tools and resources people in crisis need to stabilize and rebuild their lives. These programs are organized into five main areas:

  • Nutrition and Basic Needs
  • Employment
  • Self-Sufficiency and Supportive Services
  • Behavioral Health and Recovery
  • Housing

Under these program clusters are numerous services covering a broad spectrum of support. Programs are designed to overlap so that each client has access to as many resources as necessary for his or her individual situation.

Interfaith offers programs throughout North San Diego County, from the coastal City of Oceanside, to the inland communities south and east of our Escondido headquarters. With more than 300 member faith centers and more than 130 dedicated staff, Interfaith served more than 16,000 unique individuals last year alone.

Did you know that Interfaith Community Services offers free employment training for veterans? Interfaith is currently enrolling homeless veterans or veterans at-risk of becoming homeless in occupational skills trainings, apprenticeships and on-the-job training programs to upgrade their current skills and help them either obtain a job, or promotion in their current position.

Current trainings offered to veterans in our program include, but are not limited to:

  • Security Guard training (4 week program)
  • Phlebotomy Tech training (1-6 week program)
  • Construction Contractors training (2 week program)
  • Facilities Maintenance training (36 hour program)
  • Truck Driving training (4 week program)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant training (4 week program)
  • Solar PV Installation training (1 week program)
  • Culinary arts and food handlers training (6 week program)

The above are examples of training programs that have previously been utilized by veterans in our program. If there are other certifications or trainings that you may be interested in completing, please let us know and we can look into potential opportunities.
